National Space Society 2007 Award for Excellence
Chicago Society for Space Studies Sponsors Vice President Jim Plaxco was presented with the National Space Society’s 2007 Award for Excellence at the International Space Development Conference’s Gala Banquet. The banquet, which featured Dr. Steve Squyres, Principal Scientist for NASA’s Mars Exploration Rover Mission, was the occassion for the presentation of the National Space Society’s awards in recognition of outstanding contributions to space development, exploration, and education.
Jim received the award in recognition of his work as the chair of the NSS Space Settlement Art Contest and Calendar Committee. Under his guidance, the NSS undertook its first ever space art contest and subsequent creation of the NSS 2008 Space Settlement Calendar.
